[opensuse-xorg] 11.1 multi-output radeon - screen blanks on login/KDM working
http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/111/p1ph1lvf-video.txt contains lspci, hwinfo, xorg.conf & Xorg.0.log. This is my first encounter with onboard video with vga, dvi & svhs outputs. The motherboard is ASUS, but cannot be found on its web site because it is part of one of its desktop systems: P1-PH1. 11.1/KDE3 is freshly installed and updated. No matter what I've tried so far with SaX2 or manually with xorg.conf, KDM works, but before KDE displays anything on the desktop, the display goes into sleep mode. Commenting away the DPMS line has no apparent effect, as do Option "DPMS" "false", Option "NoDDC" & Option "DDC" "false". Searching opensuse.org so far has turned up nothing on point. Google results, while seeming to be on point, haven't yet provided a solution. I tried a Knoppix 6.2.1 DVD, KDE4 & Xorg X Server 1.6.5. It works, but the only thing I see in its xorg.conf that might impact my trouble is Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,AUTO". I tried adding that, also with CRT instead of LVDS, with no apparent effect. Then I tried after startx, the blanking, then quiet disk, Alt-F2 & konsole, from which I redirected xrandr to a file. That file says VGA-0, DFI-0 & S-video are all disconnected, confirmed by Xorg.0.log. Anyone know whether this is an unfixed bug of some sort with multihead radeon "cards"? Is "(EE) RADEON(0): [dri] RADEONDRIGetVersion failed to open the DRM; [dri] Disabling DRI." the problem? If so, what's it actually mean (Option "Composite" "Disable" didn't help)? "(EE) RADEON(0): No connected devices found!" is a lie, as seems to be "(EE) RADEON(0): Using VGA default". Help!?! -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
