Hello, I have problem with nvidia GeForce FX 5200 graphics card on Suse 9.1 64bit. When some specific output should be displayed (mostly scrolling in xterm/Mozilla etc.), display is switched to black for 1 second. It's like blank screen saver, but I'm pretty sure that it's not misconfigured screen saver :-) I have tried both 1.0-5332 and 1.0.6106 drivers, I have tried Option "AGPMode" "4" or Option "NvAgp" "1", but nothing has changed. The problem is both with kernels 2.6.5-7.75 and 2.6.5-7.95. Has anyone else the same problem? Mirek Ruda

You must disable the power management feature under Control Center --> Power Control --> Power Control. This will stop the display flicking off symptom although it's not much of a cure. I'm not sure what a "proper" fix would be.... I have tried switch off DPMS, screensaver, ACPI and also power management in BIOS without success. The same problem is also with 32bit Xserver from Suse 9.1 (i586) and 64bit X.org server from Fedora. Fortunately the problem is only in digital output, analog output is ok - so I'm able to use it with monitor connected to analog output only :-( -- Mirek Ruda

I've seen this problem. The method I used to fix it was to shut off all of KDE's built in screen / power save functions and use pure xscreensaver. Not had a lick of video related weirdness since. I've also seen one other less drastic resolution, there is a selection box in the Control Center---> Appearance & Themes ----> Screen Saver called "Make the screen saver aware of power management", make sure this checkbox is not enabled.
