[opensuse-xorg] System crash/hang when using nvidia-driver under Opensuse 11.2 x64
Hello, I have a very serious problem with the nvidia drivers (since the version, that come with the original openSuse 64 Bit system up to the current version - see attached info document - I just installed the latest version from the repository just before the test) on my system. Each time I start the X-Server the system /crashes/ to point, that I cannot do anything except pressing the reset button. Not even the Num-lock, Shift-lock or Scroll-lock Leds work any more. The bug-report file is attached. I also did a dmesg in a loop from a remote login and, after staightening it out (removed thousands of those NVRM: os_schedule: lines and duplicate lines, cause by dmesg running in a loop, because there is not -f flag like with tail) I got the following result, though I am not sure what caused this stack trace). I also did an strace /etc/init.d/kdm start, but for some reason, I did not manage to capture it and I did not have the time to redo the strace. I only remember that, there was a message on saying some like "X in D-State, leaving it alone". Also something I noticed, that running applications, e.g. top or the strace did not stop, but when I stopped the X-Server, the shell did no longer accept any key press and even ssh did not allow itself to be stopped using ~. Hope, somebody can help. Thanks in advance Dieter -- Dieter Wörz
