Please do. I have seen that error if xdm or twm attempted to start as my window manager instead of gdm. Under gdm I do not see that error message. But it would be nice to double check my system anyways. -Alain. -----Original Message----- From: Dieter Jurzitza [mailto:dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de] Sent: Wednesday, June 01, 2005 1:28 PM To: suse-xfree86@suse.com Subject: [suse-xfree86] fglrx-configuration Dear listmembers, configuring fglrx (ATI Radeon 9600XT @ 128MB) I saw two types of error messages on the F10 - console: 1.) mtrr overlap issues. 2.) vmalloc error messages. After googling and reviewing the documentation I found a solution for this. I have not seen any reference to this on the list and would be interested if anyone out there saw similar issues. There are no references in the SuSE installation README, too. I prepared a documentation (for myself) how to cope with this, if anybody is interested I would post it to the list. Dear Alain, dear listmembers, please find my personal README regarding the framebuffer issue attached to this file. If you find messages like "vmalloc error" on the F10 - console you have to add a parameter "vmalloc=SIZE" to the grub startup line in order to increase the size of the vmalloc buffer to SIZE. I use 192 [MB] what seems to be appropriate (default is 128 MB (?) as I found out) I am currently on the way to set up a package for SuSE one may configure via yast, I'll provide it to the list as soon as it is available.
