Honestly I didn't test it yet. Still need to figure out how to setup my KDE desktop to use Xgl/compiz.
Finally I've running it now. I ended up with:
echo "fixed -misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--13-120-75-75-c-60-iso8859-1" > /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.alias cp /usr/share/fonts/misc/cursor.pcf.gz /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc cp /usr/share/fonts/misc/cursor.pcf.gz/6x13-ISO8859-1.pcf.gz /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc mkfontdir /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc
to get Xgl started. But the keyboard e.g. is still broken (setxkbmap doesn't work). I wouldn't recommend to switch to X.Org 7 now if you rely on Xgl/compiz.
i am sad to hear that... :-( because i would like to use both: latest xorg and latest xgl/compiz. did you try latest xgl/compiz from http://software.opensuse.org/download/Compiz-Quinn/ ? does that make a difference? maybe you should contact cyberorg (cyberorg@cyberorg.info) who seems to be involved in developing latest xgl/compiz. please post any progress in that case to this list, so i can see if it make sense for me to give xorg 7.1 another try.... because right now i am used to use xgl/compiz and i love it and i won't miss it. so i can't use xorg 7.1 right now, and this is disappointing, because i want to use it.... -- einen schönen Tag noch DI Rainer Klier Abteilung IT - Entwicklung ECOLOG Logistiksysteme GmbH Bauernstraße 11, A-4600 Wels Tel. ++43/7242/66200 Fax ++43/7242/66200-200 mailto:kra@ecolog.at http://www.ecolog.at
