3dLabs VX1-1600 / X.org

I have been running an SGI-1600SW display using a 3dLabs VX1-1600 for a number of years using XFree 4.3 for many years. I have not been able to upgrade to later versions of SuSE due to the change from XFree to X.org. For some reason X.org does not like the VX1-1600--or at least I, as well as many other people, have been unable to get it to work. I tried selecting both the display and display card during the install as well as attempting to build a conf file by hand using my existing conf file as a starting point. No luck on either front. Does anybody know what changed between Xfree 4.3.99 and X.org or even better have any ideas on how to make this hardware work? -Brandon
