i have just tried the new X11 beta. and it seems to work. i mist the fonts in the first trial causing some problems. can you add a 'fixed' and 'cursor' as fallback to the x11 package ? Looks like you forgot to install the xorg-x11-fonts (noarch) package.
yep, i forget to copy the noarch part in the assumption that the current fonts would be ok to use. unfortunately they where removed and fontpackets from the 10.1 lack the cursorfonts (i could not find one). hence the idea of a fall back added to the server packet. they do not have to look pretty. my special problem is that the ascii terminal display is disturbed after X, so hard to read and harder to fix any problems :) a 'working' X11 with 1 font 1 cursor would be ok for start. (i guess you get the idea). ntl separating the 33MB fonts is good, i doubt they will change much between the releases.
