Hello,
On a fresh os-11.4 installation, my GeForce 7300 GS is driven by the nouveau driver. Unfortunately this driver is buggy: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36090
Is it possible to use an other driver for this card, and if yes, how?
TIA for any hints!
Peter, You can use NVidia's proprietary driver, downloaded from their web site. There is also an OpenSuSE repo for NVidia drivers. The NVidia package comes as an executable shell script, current version is 280.13. This has to be executed when there is no X server running. It will probably fail on the first attempt, because Nouveau is in use, and that kernel module needs to be removed and blacklisted before the NVidia driver will install. Fortunately, the script will write the necessary file when the install fails, and all that is necessary is a reboot to run level 3 and restart the installer.
