[opensuse-xfce] openSUSE 12.1 and XFCE
I'd like to enhance the section about XFCE at; http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Upcoming_features Could you tell me a bit what's so great about the new XFCE (what version?) - and what we're doing additionally? If some of you update the wiki, it would be great - but I can also collect what you write via email, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger aj@{suse.com,opensuse.org} Twitter/Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-xfce+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-xfce+owner@opensuse.org

We still provide Xfce 4.8 as the next major release will be in January, however all components have been updated to the latest bugfix releases. Other than that there's been mainly polishing/bugfixing/integration work, LightDM is now the default display manager reducing the dependencies on core GNOME components somewhat and the default install should now provide functionality comparable to a GNOME/KDE desktop. So you could even say it provides a viable alternative to those unsatisfied with GNOME3. Details of what's been done for this cycle are mostly on http://en.opensuse.org/User:Gberh/Xfce_ToDo though there's probably nothing spectacular from a marketing perspective.

I've already added a few sentences at http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Upcoming_features#From_Xfce Feel free to improve that or to get back to me if you have any further questions. -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-xfce+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-xfce+owner@opensuse.org
