[opensuse-wiki] Usage of openSUSE(R) in the wiki
When reviewing the wiki pages for transition to the new wiki.o.o I came across the use of "openSUSE®" in some articles such as this: http://en.opensuse.org/index.php?title=Using_Fingerprint_Authentication Is this acceptable or we should simply use "openSUSE" in all the wiki pages. Thank you. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

On a somewhat similar note, should instances of "SUSE Linux" be replaced with "openSUSE"? I've come across several older articles which seem to predominantly use the former name. Yes, definitively. "SUSE Linux" occurences should be changed into "openSUSE" R. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

depends on the context. 6.4 should stay SuSE jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://news.opensuse.org/2009/04/13/people-of-opensuse-jean-daniel-dodin/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Old wiki *end user* howtos that apply to 10.3 and earlier releases of openSUSE/SUSE Linux only won't be transferred in the new wiki instance. The only pages that will be using "SUSE Linux" (beside "openSUSE") in the new wiki and that I can think about are [[SUSE_Linux_Lifetime]] and other dev related pages. it is my firm belief that information/decisions such as this should be documented and available for article reviewers.. and, despite the Wiki Team's suggestion that reviewers should use IRC, this mail list, or the the team's message board to ask and receive individual answers, i'd propose that once a decision is made that direction be fixed in the transition guidelines.. i have therefore included the decisions in this thread in http://en.opensuse.org/Transition_guidelines#Step_1_:_Articles_review is as written ok? and, shouldn't all the standardization decisions made here, on IRC and wherever be *documented* in a similar fashion in the guidelines? (i mean, is it really necessary for someone to stay awake 24x7 on IRC to answer "What about SUSE Linux" over and over and . . . or each reviewer be expected to drag through the mail list/IRC archives/etc to learn if "openSUSE®" is ok, or not?) vr DenverD -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Good :) Thanks for the improvement. I've also added a section in the Wiki Guidelines : http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Wiki_Style_Guidelines#openSUSE_spelling Regards, R. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Keep in mind that there might be references to Novell's enterprise Linux products. These are named "SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES)"/" SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED)".
