[opensuse-wiki] Templates for languages.o.o
Hello, I have exported all the templates from the English wiki. I was wondering if they should all be imported into languages.o.o. I think there's something like 150 of them, so it would likely save on time. Also, I have put an article on planet.opensuse.org about all that has happened with the wikis lately. Considering that we were running on MediaWiki 1.5 just a year ago, we have come a pretty long way! By the way, I will soon be trying out MediaWiki 1.16 on the Novell wikis. Provided that all goes well there, expect an upgrade to the openSUSE wikis within a month or two. This should be MUCH less painful than the jump from 1.5 to 1.15 =)

Most likely :) It depends on concept we decide to use. Currently I'm thinking what consequences will have to make same changes to http://en.opensuse.org/Help:Translation in particular, section languages.opensuse.org. Using LANG as a prefix makes rules how to apply that complicated with MediaWiki software. The prefix is reserved for the namespaces, so LANG must be applied before actual title, not always at the start of the full title. If we move LANG to the end, as suffix, then we have rule that is simple to follow for translators. If it is possible to use Eng_title/LANG in any namespace then we got subpages as redirects to actual titles hanging on the master English page, so it is easy to guess. I got to test this. The slash in the title here is good thing (unlike elsewhere) even from usability perspective. Original namespace name is preserved. Master page should be protected. We can use InputBox in each master page to create page with English text that can be translated. Also we have to consider using scripts for boring and time consuming tasks like to scan wiki and fix links, warn for changes in master, etc. Wikipedia must have some that can be used as template.

Sure :)

Did I say hooray :) Finally we will follow updates quite close and according to the changelog there is quite a few important. Not to mention that some extensions will work only with 1.16. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Now I'm sure it will save time :) All that I needed to convince me was creation of the Main Page. So when you have time please import them to languages.o.o. I'll move them as appropriate. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

I thought you would say something like that ;)
