[opensuse-wiki] All is portal

It seems that all topics will have portals :) http://wiki.opensuse.org/Category:Portals It seems that problem to forget old construction rules is not only mine :) -- Regards Rajko, -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Hi, Libzypp, YaST, oBS should have their own portal as these are Open Source projects driven by SUSE/openSUSE imho. I'm just not sure about Portal:Zypper. Should it have its own Portal, as it is a subset of Libzypp? And.. what is "Portal:Libzypp/History" ? It shouldn't be a Portal itself, but only a subportal wiki page, right? I also see that "Portal:Weekly news team" shouldn't be a portal, but a standard "openSUSE:" wiki page. Regards, R. On Tue, May 25, 2010 at 6:58 AM, Rajko M. <rmatov101@charter.net> wrote:

Portal:Build Service is already there.

If you can fill a Portal with content its okay to create it. It won't hurt. Portals are not for structuring content (like Zypper is a subset of Libzypp therefor a Zypper Portal is forbidden) but simply for navigation. Given the number of links to the old /Zypper page its quite okay to have a Portal for it.
And.. what is "Portal:Libzypp/History" ? It shouldn't be a Portal itself, but only a subportal wiki page, right?
This should be a simple page linked from the Portal. Sub-pages like Portal:Bananas/Apes are ONLY for filling the Apes box on the portal. It's to keep the content and the layout of the Portal separated and therefore easier maintainable.
I also see that "Portal:Weekly news team" shouldn't be a portal, but a standard "openSUSE:" wiki page.
Right. I already told Sascha :) Henne -- Henne Vogelsang, openSUSE. Everybody has a plan, until they get hit. - Mike Tyson -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

I think with the increasing number o portals we have to switch from the automatic categorytree list of portals in the navigation boxes to a hand picked list in a template to create a better usable navigation across portals. Greetings

Current category tree is presenting single Category:Portals, as number is growing we will add subcategories, just as Remy mentioned in case of zypper that is just one of tools using libzypp. That will still make all portals available, but list will be organized. Hand picked lists is what we want to avoid as much as we can. -- Regards Rajko, -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org
