hello :-) do we need to keep a compatibility between the SDB and the wiki (that is are the wiki pages imported back in a database?) because if not, a part of the sdb template can be simplified (name of author, not very meaningfull on a wiki, keywords replaced by categories...) thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos

The SDB is the wiki now. You don't have to take care about other databases.
because if not, a part of the sdb template can be simplified (name of author, not very meaningfull on a wiki, keywords replaced by categories...)
Author: yeah, this was more for us to see who originally from SuSE wrote the article. But i think it's a nice credit thing ... Yes, you can see the original author when you look at the history. To make it short: i will not start crying when somebody don't use it :-) keywords: no, we want keyword search (which is not working right now, afaik). This was one of the main advantages in the old SDB. Wiki search is very good compared to the old SDB search, so the need for that might be not that high as before, but let's keep it. -- with kind regards, ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin Lasarsch, Subsystems SUSE LINUX GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5 90409 Nuremberg martin.lasarsch@suse.de ---------------------------------------------------------------------- simply change to www.suse.de

the search could be done through category tag. I don't think we must delete keywords, only replace them by corresponding categories wasn't there an AI SDB Howto? jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos

I'm not sure about this. A keyword is a keyword. It makes imho no sense to have a category called "error 501" for example. But you are right that keywords and categories are not exclusive, so keyword 10.1 could be also a category.
wasn't there an AI SDB Howto?
Yes, the new namespaces are not online, i will post the text when this is done. Of course we have already a real good SDB Howto online, what i want to post is a text to explain differences between SDB/Howto/FAQ. -- with kind regards, ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin Lasarsch, Subsystems SUSE LINUX GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5 90409 Nuremberg martin.lasarsch@suse.de ---------------------------------------------------------------------- simply change to www.suse.de

but how are keywords dealed in mediawiki? and why not? I just begin to learn the strength of categories/sub categories. I think that after some time of basic work, most of the time spent by a sysop should on inserting categories :-)

true, so I questioned the use of th AI what i want to
post is a text to explain differences between SDB/Howto/FAQ.
there is also a thing that must be made clearer: there are many article nearly the same that should be merged, that number make difficult to know which one is good. mostly if I found one, I may no be aware of an other better for me. So categories based on content jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos
