Deletion and Missing Pages.
Please look at http://en.opensuse.org/Category:Pages_to_delete The Templates page is marked for deletion. Is this mistake or just not so perfect script that picked up all pages with Deletion template, including template itself :-) http://en.opensuse.org/Special:Wantedpages 1. OpenSUSE:Browse (17 links) is listed as missing, but it is present and in good shape. -- Regards, Rajko.

This is a side effect of having a template in a category, the template itself gets listed in the category. We trust that the admins know this and don't delete the 'delete' template or the page that lists templates.

This looks like a bug, unless it is a known effect of using a different namespace (in our case OpenSUSE: ) Peter 'Pflodo' Flodin.

I see. Much more reading is due here. I have to understand how Mediawiki software is working. The "side effect" would be that I would be able to run Mediawiki on second computer and have edits done without hanging logged on openSUSE.org.

Good observation. It is another side effect of Mediawiki :-) The original name space is openSUSE, and this was changed in listing to OpenSUSE. It was actually changed somewhere before and than captured as missing page. I noticed that Mediawiki is correcting first letter in string to capital ("Rajko m" instead of original "rajko m" or "Rajko M"). It will be good idea either to correct software or openSUSE and similar items. The second is probably more appropriate if one wants to keep compatibility with other wikies. -- Regards, Rajko.

Too fast. Peter, is there any channel to communicate with administrators directly. On the mentioned page there is ton of "User:" pages. The good 90% will never appear, and just make trouble to find real missing pages. -- Regards, Rajko.

mediawiki is pretty simple to install (I have two or three of them :-). If you don't upload images nor use too many pages, copy/paste works fine

but the two are mapped (Open and open is the same for mediawiki) and I was sais the present list is the good one to contact sysops (I am, but only for the french flavor, and not from Novell) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=G%C3%A9rer_ses_photos

Thanks jdd, It is obvious that I make first steps and it will be couple more ouches before I work out the way trough. What I'm missing is communication with the rest of contributors that will prevent stepping on someones foot or shooting my self in the foot :-) Present option with "discuss" page is OK, but still, I would prefer more semi-private consultation (like here) before any publishing on the wiki. One of problems that I would like to see more opinions is mentioned in the "What kind of login?" article. -- Regards, Rajko.

here seems nice. I have the same feeling as you have, not beeing part of the Novell team I often fear to be wrong in my edits :-(

URL? and we can still keep exchanging here :-) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=G%C3%A9rer_ses_photos

I'm new to wiki. Few edits I made on Wikipedia was just cleaning the page from chaotically added facts. Nothing fancy just brought in order to look like the rest of article.

URL?
I was looking for some clickable link. This is from header: X-Message-number-for-archive=176 It is in this mailing list, so if you sort articles by subject, you'll find it. Basically it is the question how much use is of login protected wiki page comparing to open like Wikipedia.
and we can still keep exchanging here :-)
Yes. The problem here is that I have to learn how to retrieve older articles. Today I tried to get one thread on opensuse list, that I found in archives using web interface, but returned articles were about different topic :-( I know that thread ID was wrong, but I used the only one I found. -- Regards, Rajko.

Jean, official policy has some reasons behind, mine thought was just that someone can look again and see difference between Wikipedia and ton of other wikis. I've got mentioned article using Google, but I thought that reading will be easier if I download thread and see who is responding to whom :-) Thanks for you answers. -- Regards, Rajko.
