Hi, I once sent an e-mail informing that I had started and commited myself to help on translating the openSUSE wiki to Portuguese. Some time has passed and I thought I should say something. All the basic pages that are needed to ask for the creation of a Portuguese wiki are done, plus a few more, and I have been trying to keep them all up to date (which I think I have done). I didn't ask for it yet, the Portuguese wiki, because I know that I alone do not have the time to keep all the pages that a onw wiki would have, which would certainly grow to much more that the basic set listed in the Translation Guide. However, if there were more people interested in helping with the Portuguese translation, I think it would certainly be possible to update and maintain a Portuguese wiki. So, are there any volunteers for helping with the translation to Portuguese, so that we can ask for a Portuguese wiki? Regards, Hugo Costelha

Sorry for barging in, I'm not offering to aid with the translation, just have a few comments. I don't see these wiki pages as being beyond one person to maintain, too many people maintaining them would be more of a problem than one, imnsho. The biggest job is the first time translation, and unless the pages are "totally" redone, doing an occasional update shouldn't be that much of a problem. Since I'm "alone" with the translation of my own pages too, I'd say the odds of having others join in, would significantly increase with making the pages available.

Thanks for the comments, they are allways apreciated.

I also thinks that the first translation is also the most problematic one. My problem, is that I would like to have a Portuguese wiki, but with much more pages translated, including things such as the SDB. And that is too much for me alone. If there were more people helping it could be possible. For the basic set of pages I agree with you, that more people could do more harm than good.

This is an interesting point which I will consider. For now I do not have the time to ask and proceed with the Portuguese wiki nevertheless, but in July, even if nobody else volunteered in the meantime, I think I will take your advice. Hugo

Hugo, you can count on me. I don't have too much time available (that's the reason I just e-mailed this list once) but I still can help. Let me know. Regards, -- Eduardo Bacchi Kienetz LPI Certified - Level 2 http://www.noticiaslinux.com.br/eduardo/
