[opensuse-wiki] CategorySelect extension

Hello, another proposal for an extension - however this one has not only pros, but also some cons. The extension I'm proposing is CategorySelect - basically a category tree in the edit mode to select the categories an article is in (see attached screenshot). Pro / features: - easy selection of categories - categories are listed as tree view - this means that users can select the best-matching sub-category instead of a generic main category easily - category tree can be collapsed and expanded (number of open levels at page load is a config option) - root category can be specified for each namespace Con: - [[Category:whatever]] is stripped from the wikitext editor (but you can still type [[Category:foobar]] to add a category) - opening of the subcategory notes doesn't work in Konqueror :-( Probably a javascript issue, I didn't have time to debug it yet. (It's not a real issue in the wiki where I'm using this extension (no Konqueror users there), but it might be a major issue in the openSUSE wiki.) Note: We had an older version of this extension installed for some time, but it was disabled again because it did not have the collapsable subcategories (which resulted in a long list to scroll). Regarding installation: I have two patches to fix two small bugs (also submitted to the MediaWiki bugzilla - one of them was submitted to SVN trunk already, but not to the 1.16 branch). If we decide to use this extension, I'll provide the details of the bugs and the patches I'm using. I was the one asking to be removed, as list was very large and editing with it was quite annoying. I'm still not sure in what workflow it is advantage to have it. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org
