Anyone with Novell account, logged in a wiki can do that, unless there is some problem with wiki, or file server. My method is to create first image link (or links): [[image:my_nice_image.png]] then save page. As there is no image that can be inserted, Mediawiki software will put on page the link itself: [[image:my_nice_image.png]] and link it to upload page. Click on that link will open upload page. Upload image, go back to article, press refresh, and image is there :-) The other method is to go to Special pages, click on Upload link. This will open the same upload page as described before.
