Where to place category? I placed Category at the top of page, but SDB and Translations expect some other information there. So I changed to bottom like I have seen on Wikipedia, with pending changes for the rest that is now at the top. Jean, jdd wrote me a message to place at the top, and interwiki links at the bottom. I consider top as right place too, but if that will interfere with other meta informations, than it can be at the bottom, just above interwiki links. What is right, or better to say, what would work better on openSUSE? -- Regards, Rajko.

frankly, I don't think it's very important. Most of such thing don't hurt. the place is where one looks to see if this is already done before adding one :-) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos

As it so happens the SDB:Howto http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Howto#Categories states "Add the categories at the beginning of the article". So on openSUSE the standard is at the top (as we want all pages the same). Peter 'Pflodo' Flodin

That is good, as in the most of edits I added category at the top. Obviously I missed SDB article, but I consider the category as a kind of meta information, and meta-info belongs usually to the file header. -- Regards, Rajko.

It should be same for all edits. Sooner or later there will be some bots running some obvious stuff automatically and than it is good if information about file is in the same place. I can just say thank you to bringing this up. Better earlier than later. BTW, one of the first bots should be the one that takes care about this kind irregularities :-) -- Regards, Rajko.

why? i wont force the maintainer. if the community agree to a style the can set a policy. but thats nothing a bot should do. darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org

It was example where bot can be helpful and smiley was because I think that it has very low priority. Maybe one day when nothing is happening and one needs some time killer :-) Moving category link will not change formating, so no one fillings will be hurt, and it will help all other editors to find things where they expect them. Contrary to this is adding the category tag. It is human job, not bot's. -- Regards, Rajko.

AFAIK categories are indexed, so easy to find, and a bot can (must, anyhow) search through the entire file. it's for humans than setting things makes it easy. what bots could do is search for categories and move them to top (or anywhere you want) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos

That was idea, but as mentioned in reply to Markus, I don't find it very necessary, as wiki is doing fine with category anywhere. -- Regards, Rajko.
