Hi, i just put my reworked communicate page[1] live. The old one[2] was a mess. Can the language maintainers please update the communicate pages in their wiki? And please keep it language clean. There is no use of a turkish forum mentioned on a spanish communicate page.... How does one edit the {{mailinglist}} or {{UsenetGroups}} ? I think it very confusing as it is now. With a list that long it becomes confusing wether the explanation is above or below the name. e.g. in the Usenetgroups: * gmane.linux.suse.opensuse.user General discussion about the openSUSE (development) project. * gmane.linux.suse.opensuse.devel To what does it belong? Also The'''info''' should be {{Info|...}} see http://en.opensuse.org/Templates houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. Sie ist das Kostbarste, was wir haben, denn es ist unwiederbringliche Lebenszeit. Template:mailinglist, Template:UsenetGroups? Its usefull information not only for the communicate page. The templates can be included elsewhere without the need to copy the content and maintaining it twice.

Feel free to do it differently if you have a better idea.

I understand. I just did not know how to change them. I looked on http://en.opensuse.org/Templates and did not see the relevant information.

I know. I just needed the know-how on how to change it. The rest was my usual rambling. ;-) Changes have been made. houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. initially, AFAIK, en.opensuse was said to be "international", that is to retain all the info, english or not. I have no preference, though, and we can as well let this to local wikis :-) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos

*does the order you used (web forum, wikis...) important or random? that is do you think it's better to keep this order? *I don't like the template system (here), if you need the info elsewhere, include a link. but I don't really mind :-) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos

I agree with jdd that en.opensuse.org is more "international" than english - therefore I think it should list mailinglists, forums etc. in all languages. At least there should be a link to "german mailinglists", "french mailinglists" etc. (The other way round there would be complainments for sure - imagine the german maintainer says "the opensuse list is not german - I won't list it". Huh, no openSUSE mailinglists?) Another note: http://de.opensuse.org/Kommunikation contains some links that shall point to Wikipedia, but point to http://de.opensuse.org/index.php?title=Wikipedia:de:Webforum&action=edit :-( Can someone fix this, please? (I don't know enough about interwiki links to do it on myself.) Regards, Christian Boltz --

notice that there are still interwiki links on the bottom left column. is that enough? jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos

Whats the point of having internationalized wikis then? If we have one big clumsy "international" wiki.

There is no german openSUSE mailinglist in german. So there is no way of communicating about openSUSE on a mailinglist in german. Whats the point of pointing german only speaking people to a english mailinglist on a german webpage?

My perception is that en is really internationalized, and language wikis are more additional resource consisting of translations that should help people that don't speak english to familiarize themselves with openSUSE, as well as language/region specific stuff that is of no interest for the rest of the world.

The german only speaking is only one category of german speaking. It might be significant, but there is a lot of people that use second language, so the link to english, french, spanish etc, content is for them. -- Regards, Rajko.
