I just noticed, perhaps this is petty, but I don't think it's right that I spent a lot of time writing /LXC (and the init scripts and .spec / rpm packaging to go with it) and then through no action of my own it loses all trace of me.
The xml file is 3.3 MB, and wiki allows import up to 2 MB. So importing only the last revision was the only way that I know to transfer LXC.
Maybe Matthew can increase that limit?
It's a fairly simple tweak to up the Wiki upload limit.... and for what it's worth, I'm 100% behind Brian on this one. One of the key factors in opensource contributions and virtually every single OS license... be it CC, GPL etc. all require accreditation for the contributors (it's not optional).... baffles me why people think it's ok to simply lose all the edit history on the Wiki. :-( That's very much against one of the core requirements and principles of open source contributions. At least there is now a way to import files with short history (and maybe not so much work invested ;-( ).
You may compare this to the status a few time ago: Thread: Upload/move a wiki artikel to wiki.opensuse.org (GFDL) http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php?t=440535&referrerid=10227
A more coherent reply from me this time :-P <note to self.. stop firing off emails without thinking> I've done a few MWiki page moves from one Wiki to another. It isn't all that hard (but it does take a little thinking) - you typically need rights above a typical user to do it though (depending on the Wiki setup). You can use the MW API and export as XML from the old wiki, including all history, and then import into the new... including all history. There are a few gotchas... one is the defaults in the php.ini file which limit filesize uploads as well as any limits set in LocalSettings.php, but for a typical page, that shouldn't be an issue - I've only had to tinker with default filesize limitations for binary/image uploads. You can also fix a bad import if you're careful... If a page was copied without history, and you want to inject that history back in... it does take some offline tinkering to fix up the XML, and then you just import it back to the live wiki, essentially replacing the existing page with the "fixed" one. Not something you want to do with every single page you move mind you, but it's a useful way to correct a few ooopses along the way.
