I have brought this to a few different areas of the openSuSE community and was directed here.
Can you please explain why you are throwing categories like KDE away!? I figure the articles should be categorized as specifically as possible. Categories like KDE and GNOME contain a large variety of different types of articles that can be further categorized. Much of these 2 categories were the meetings which should then be categorized under the meetings category. The meetings category is then separated by KDE_meetings and GNOME_meetings since these two groups are of the largest. Rather than looking at the categories as tags, I'm taking them as a bit of a hierarchy as of now to make the categorization a bit more organized. Once this has made some improvement, all encompassing tag-like categories such as KDE may return.
Other articles that were in the KDE category that needed to be further categorized where all the KDE app descriptions. These articles find a better home under the Application category under their respective application type. I think it will be much easier to navigate the wiki if articles are categorized as specifically as possible and we don't have such large encompassing tag-like categories. This way, one can go to the site-map page and start from the few top level categories and navigate to the desired section without much confusion. Also, by categorizing articles as specific as possible, this may set an example for new article authors to categorize their articles properly rather than generically. A place for generic kde description articles and such could be put in a Applications->Desktop Enviroments->KDE category. My apologies if I caused any problems. I'm doing my best to put some sensible organization in a site that I find very valuable and hope by instituting some sort of hierarchy of categories, others such as new opensuse users can easily navigate the wiki and find exactly what they are looking for. Again, sorry if an there is any trouble. If you have any suggestions, please do let me know. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals?
