With this patch, the order takes place like `sysctl --system` does. A file has precedence over previous loaded files. The order is: * /boot/sysctl.conf-<kernelversion> * /run/sysctl.d/*.conf * /etc/sysctl.d/*.conf * /usr/local/lib/sysctl.d/*.conf * /usr/lib/sysctl.d/*.conf * /lib/sysctl.d/*.conf * /etc/sysctl.conf * /etc/sysconfig/network/ifsysctl * /etc/sysconfig/network/ifsysctl-<interface> All files from `sysctl.d/*` directories gets collected and sort by basename in ascending order.
