[opensuse-web] Frontpage News

Hi, http://www.opensuse.org/en/ shows oldish news. Who is caring for them? I heard rumors that there may be problems to update them. Any details? When are the problems expected to be solved? :-) Bye, Steve -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-web+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-web+help@opensuse.org

The news are aggregated via RSS and updated by a cronjob. I just triggered the update manually but nothing changed. Leaves room for two guesses: 1. The permissions are once more broken -> @Mike: Please run the fix_permissions.sh bash script 2. The servers may be out of sync -> @Mike, Peter: Could you please verify that the synchronization is working correctly? Anyway, the latest news located at http://news.opensuse.org/ was written july the 8th and shows up on the frontpage. @Stephan: Have you seen an older version of the frontpage? This would support my second theory. Greets, Andreas -- Skype: andreas.demmer ICQ: 103 924 771 http://www.andreas-demmer.de

Hi Andreas, I have ran the fix_permissions.sh script. Can you please refresh my memory on how we are keeping these in sync? -Mike

Do we have this setup documented somewhere? :-) Maybe we should put this on the openSUSE wiki? this permission thing seems to cause trouble at least once a month. Sounds like the fix_permissions.sh script isn't the ideal solution to the problem. Would it be possible to use ACLs or umask together with sufficient group permissions? If not, you should at least consider running fix_permissions.sh at lesst every hour via cron. -- Regards Frank Frank Sundermeyer, Technical Writer, Documentation SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409 Nuernberg Tel: +49-911-74053-0, Fax: +49-911-7417755; http://www.opensuse.org/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) "Reality is always controlled by the people who are most insane" Dogbert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-web+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-web+help@opensuse.org
