[opensuse-web] no mirrors in US with factory-snapshot
From this perplexing page http://download.opensuse.org/update/12.1/openSUSE:12.1:Update.repo.mirrorlis... I cut down to the following for North America: http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/opensuse/ http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/opensuse/ http://mirror.cst.temple.edu/opensuse/ http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/opensuse/ http://opensuse.mirrorcatalogs.com/ http://ftp.utexas.edu/opensuse/ http://ftp.osuosl.org/ http://suse.mirrors.tds.net/ http://mirror.rackspace.com/ http://mirror.symnds.com/ http://mirror.clarkson.edu/opensuse/ http://mirror.metrocast.net/opensuse/ http://mirrors.rit.edu/opensuse/ http://opensuse.cs.utah.edu/ http://mirrors.xmission.com/opensuse/ http://opensuse.mirror.freedomvoice.com/ http://suse.mobile-central.org/ http://opensuse.berkeley.edu/opensuse/ http://mirrors.ucr.ac.cr/opensuse/ http://mirror.its.dal.ca/opensuse/ http://www.muug.mb.ca/pub/opensuse/ http://mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/opensuse/ I tried manually reaching about half of these, and none hit contain factory-snapshot. I was trying to download linux and initrd to do a test HTTP install, but the download rate from whatever download.opensuse.org was coming from (192.135.221.134) was dismal, as was that from ftp5.gwdg.de, while widehat.opensuse.org seems to be invisible. Anyone know if there is a factory-snapshot mirror performing acceptably anywhere? How is anyone supposed to test when download speeds are less than 10% of normal? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Why would you look for another mirrorlist if you want to know who mirrors factory-snapshot? http://download.opensuse.org/factory-snapshot/repo/oss/ChangeLog.mirrorlist tells you that there are just very few mirrors of it. I didn't "look for another". It showed up in a post I read on one of the mailing lists.

Now I see, but a changelog page is not a place I would have looked for to find such a list. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
