Hello,
as some people might have seen in bugzilla comments [1], Janardhan is the new maintainer of the wiki servers. Welcome!
Janardhan, I already have a task for you ;-)
Currently *.opensuse.org runs MediaWiki 1.17.x, which is outdated and probably contains known security issues.
https://github.com/openSUSE/wiki (branch "mw_upgrade_1.19") and the *stage.opensuse.org wikis already contain MediaWiki 1.19.3. Given that 1.19.3 was running on the staging server for months without problems, I'd say it's finally time to upgrade the production wikis.
Note that in the meantime 1.19.7 is available (with additional fixes). Our final goal should be to upgrade to this version, but I'd prefer to deploy 1.19.3 first (to finally get 1.19.x without another delay) and afterwards do the update to the latest 1.19.x version.
If you have questions or problems with the update, I'll happily help you - just ask ;-)
Regards,
Christian Boltz

Hello,
I've noticed you updated the wikis to 1.19.3 - thanks!
Unfortunately I found a small issue on de.opensuse.org - it has three empty boxes "SEARCH", "TOOLBOX" and "LANGUAGES" in the left column. OTOH, the "Hilfe" (help) box is missing, but it's defined in http://de.opensuse.org/MediaWiki:Sidebar
While checking if other language wikis are also affected, I noticed that fr.opensuse.org has another problem - on the bottom of the main pages are 3 boxes with <feed ...> which look quite broken. (I don't know if <feed ...> on other wikis works.)
Oh, and http://destage.opensuse.org/ gives me a nice database error asking if you forgot to run maintenance/update.php ;-)
Can you please check what's wrong?
Besides that, my old notice is still valid:

Hello,
I've noticed you updated the wikis to 1.19.3 - thanks!
Don't thank me :-)
Scott and Janardhan were the ones who put in all the work. I was just an advisor this time around.

Good catch. We forgot to restart memcached after the upgrade so that it could pull in the new sidebar. It is working now.

I'm not sure what is going on there. I'll have Scott/Janardhan look into this.

This is fixed now.
Thank you for the notices.

It looks that <feed> tag is still broken: https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Distribution/News
Could you check it, please?

Hint: Special:Version does not list the SimpleFeed extension.
Interestingly, LocalSettings.php in git still contains it, so in theory it should be working. (Maybe in practise someone manually edited the config?)
BTW: - any plans to merge the mw_upgrade_1.19 branch into master, now that we are using it? - MediaWiki 1.19.3 is outdated and has known security issues - please update to 1.19.7
