One more problem with what you have done is on netbooks, it does not present a nice view I tested my layout on 1024x768 to see how it would look on a netbook. You're right, it doesn't look very nice. I can fix this by reducing the banner height to 370px.
I have problems while aligning the columns because of the css ( I tried what I could ) so can you help with that on my page. Can you help with that I'm not a CSS expert by any means, but here's what I'd do.
- Remove this: ".container_16 .grid_9 { width: 520px; }" - To "#quicklinks-wrapper", add "float: right" - To "#quicklinks-wrapper", add "width: 360px" or whatever you want the sidebar width to be
I would not prefer this as this may disturb other pages that are on the bento theme too maybe we can override the css. CC'ing this to rlihm too, who can help us a lot better and advise us
This works in Chromium - I haven't tested it in other browsers.

I like yours, so let us work on 2 proof concepts just that we may choose the better one. One more problem with what you have done is on netbooks, it does not present a nice view to it and lots of the links are lost as said earlier on previous MLs

Hi all,
I've prepared an alternative layout for the new site that is based on the existing draft at http://suseware.com/trial/extended.php. I put it together in about 30 minutes, so it doesn't look as sleek as I want it to be but it's just a proof of concept.
You can find my version here: http://www.pieterdedecker.be/tmp/opensuse/
Basically, I've moved the "Download/Help/Developer tools" links to the top of the page to make room for a wide banner. To fill this space, I'd suggest a rotating slideshow that shows off some of openSUSE's features. Let me know what you think.
This is basically hiding it. Where you put it, people only look for search. And as such there is no download link visible at all.
Greetings, Stephan
