[opensuse-virtual] python-SpiceClientGtk
Hello, I see that python-SpiceClientGtk is published in http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Virtualization/openSUSE_Factory/ but not in http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Virtualization/openSUSE_12.1/ Is there a special reason for this ? It is only enabled for Factory, but a quick look at the spec file shows no dependencies that restrict it to Factory. I would be happy to enable it for 12.1, but would first like to check with dimstar, the maintainer of spice-gtk. Jim, No objections from my end. I myself have very limited interest in spice-gtk and mainly maintain it as it's a dependency of gnome-boxes (which only is available for current Factory). Regards, Jim Damn, that would be awesome to get it resolved for 12.1, cause virt-manager can show a spiced host which is really fantastic to have with the qml driver (real colors and even somewhat accelerated video) which are perfect to test ...
/me know, I used spicec client but would be more easy to have it directly I'm not able to fix it, but total volunteer to test :-) -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Ambassador GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-virtual+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-virtual+owner@opensuse.org
Bugger, I was hoping it would be a trivial thing by simply turning on spice-gtk for 12.1 Since I was hoping it would fix the error "Cannot display graphical console type 'spice': No module named SpiceClientGtk' " in virt-manager. when using spice as a display type. I've reason to believe this is caused by the lack of the python-SpiceClientGtk rpm because of this bug report from redhat : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=697729 Which talks about exactly the same problem and the solution for it. I guess I have to branch of the package in my own obs corner. I've found the packages in the following repos build for opensuse 12.1 libcacard >= 0.1.2 http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/security/openSUSE_12.1/ libusb-1.0 >= 1.0.9 http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/hardware/openSUSE_12.1/ libusbredirhost >= 0.3.3 http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/hardware/openSUSE_12.1/ Thanks for the effort I'm of fiddling with it in my own little corner of the obs. (it seems to build nicely with the above packages) Rob Verduijn 2012/6/5 Jim Fehlig <jfehlig@suse.com>:

Hi, I've managed to build the python-SpiceClientGtk rpm for 12.1 in my own obs directory. I can confirm that installing this rpm solves the problem of not being able to view the console of spice clients in virt-manager. ie when openening a system that uses spice for display you no longer get the error : "Cannot display graphical console type 'spice': No module named SpiceClientGtk' " Is this a good argument to add the missing rpm packages to the 12.1 repo of virtualization so that python-SpiceClientGtk no longer gives the unsolved dependency error ? Or should I file a bug report for this in bugzilla ? Rob Verduijn 2012/6/6 Rob Verduijn <rob.verduijn@gmail.com>:
