[opensuse-virtual] qemu, virtio and network card
I'm running qemu-kvm and testing the use of virtio for network access. It seems to work. However, yast is confused. Sure, there is a device eth0 that is configured and is using the virtio_net module. However yast also claims that there is an unconfigured Virtio Network device that it cannot configure because: "Unable to configure the network card because the kernel device (eth0, wlan0) is not present. This is mostly caused by missing firmware (for wlan devices). See dmesg output for details." This seems to be erroneous. The unconfigured Virtio network device should not show up at all, afaict. For example, if I boot the qemu session with the pcnet nc then yast just shows the eth0 device using the pcnet module. There are no unconfigured devices. So, I guess this is a bug - but is it yast, qemu, me or ? I see the issue as well. Would you please submit a bug report on this issue. I think for now assume it's a kvm bug. Bruce -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-virtual+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-virtual+help@opensuse.org

Novell want more contact details from me than I'm prepared to give. In fact, pretty much every time I have anything to do with the Novell side of the business I leave with a bad taste in my mouth. But, hey, I've only been using suse for ten years. By that, I mean the attempt to log into novell's bugzilla. If there is an opensuse bugzilla, I might have a chance as my login for the build factory seems OK (last time I used it, anyway.) I'll go ahead and create a bug report for this issue. Bruce -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-virtual+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-virtual+help@opensuse.org
