just a short question has someone a working Xen Installation as Host (on x86_64) with Opensuse 11.0.
Background:
I have to installations of Opensuse 11.0 where i also installed the Xen Pattern. But on both Systems i cannot boot into the Xen kernel.
What kind of problems are you seeing? For example, does the boot process hang, does grub report an error, or is there some other problem when you try to boot the Xen kernel? In addition to the description of the problem, it might be helpful to see a copy of your /boot/grub/menu.lst with a comment about which grub entry you are using.
I am thinking this might be different problems on both PC's but want to make sure that This is not a general Problem or i am missing something.
I have following packages installed in the pattern.
bridge-utils (1.4-28.1) kernel-xen (2.6.25.5-1.1 virt-manager (0.5.3-21.1) vm-install (0.2.9-5.1) xen (3.2.1_16881_04-4.2) xen-doc-html (3.2.1_16881_04-4.2) xen-doc-pdf (3.2.1_16881_04-4.2) xen-libs (3.2.1_16881_04-4.2) xen-tools (3.2.1_16881_04-4.2) xterm (235-12.1) yast2-vm ((2.16.5-7.1)
So there was nothing changed from the original pattern.
Those packages appear to be correct.
The only package which was not installed was install-initrd (1.0-368.1) Is this maybe necessary?
That package is not needed for your system to boot into xen.
If necessary i can send a more detailed description in a later mail.
In addition to my requests above, it might be helpful to know more about you systems (make, model, type of CPUs, amount of RAM, etc.) With that information, I can probably help you out, but if not, we'll need debug logs ... but we'll cross that bridge if / when we come to it.
