[opensuse-usability] Online Questionnaire on Gnome/KDE for my master thesis ... Online-Umfrage zu Gnome/KDE für meine Diplomarbeit
Hello/Guten Tag! Read below the line with the many (---) signs for the german version of this mail. I am a student at the technical university of Vienna. I hope that you can help me out by taking part in my online questionnaire, which deals with usability aspects of the two biggest user interfaces Gnome and KDE for open source desktops. I am doing this research as a part of my theses in computer science. The questionnaire can be found at: http://www.schilf.at/gnomeKde/index.php?lang=en Even if you are not familiar with those terms right now your contribution is still of great value to me. Thank you for participating. -- Martin Neuwirth -- Martin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-usability+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-usability+help@opensuse.org

hm.. maybe it's that case with suse.de respondents because your requests to the outside world looks like they are all coming from the same ip-address. maybe your network is firewalled, nat-enabled, etc. Because the survey doesn't accept multiple commits from the same ip-address that might be the problem. Can you confirm that it's that way? if it is that way I am afraid that I can't fix that in this late state of my survey, because there have already been lots of people submitting. I kindly would want to ask you that if you have any other possible access to the internet other than from your company's network to participate from that location instead. Of course it is firewalled and natted. I'll add my 2 cents from home. Wil -- Will Stephenson Desktop Engineer Interfaces and Applications -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-usability+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-usability+help@opensuse.org

Somehow I missed any question which could be qualified as usability related in this questionnaire. Bye, Steve -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-usability+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-usability+help@opensuse.org

Well, the survey shouldn't be seen as only the survey. Besides that I am doing user tests and in conjunction with the survey various assumptions can be made which can be assigned to usability aspects... There is always a problem in addressing direct usability matters with an online survey, because you just simply can't ask only "open questions". Doing so there wouldn't be any chance of doing an automatic evaluation on the results in the end. There is little hidden usability although... By asking you to rate a specific program in a specific area in matters of useness, etc. I get an overall impression on what program most of you think is more or less more usable than others, meaning also that that program has to do something good in terms of usability otherwise you wouldn't use it. The point I can agree with you is that the survey can't state which particular usability points a program is good at. But I just couldn't see a possible way of asking such things in an online survey, because that would have ment asking a serious amount of questions. To get such more detailed answers there are other usability methods such as : user tests, etc... There are two open questions in the end anyway, where you can put it everything you want to say about usability in general on Gnome and KDE. I am open to advices on how direct usability matters can be addressed with an online survey under the circumstances of not annoying the attendants too much (eg. with lots of questions and at the same time keeping the survey as simple as possible so that even "non-technical" persons can attend it). I very much appreciate your statement on that, Thank you -- Martin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-usability+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-usability+help@opensuse.org
