[uyuni-users] Upgrading Clients to SLES 15 SP1
Hi, is there an advice how to upgrade SLES 15 to SLES 15 SP1 (and later to SP2) by Uyuni (2020/01)? Searching at the web I only found a lot of hits for upgrading Uyuni itself (and the mail archive of this list is mainly delivering "Error 500" right now). At Uyuni's docs I find only some informations about X-upgrading SLES 12 to SLES 15. Of course I already added the respective channels at Admin / Setup Wizard / Products which got synchronized successfully in the meantime. How should I proceed? -- Gruss, Tobias Crefeld. xmpp (no email): crefeld@xabber.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: uyuni-users+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: uyuni-users+owner@opensuse.org
Most of the time, we do it pretty simple by upgrading to latest packages of current SP, then switching the channels in uyuni to wished SP and doing a "zypper dup" on the server. This indeed sounds simple. Do you exchange the channel assignments of the respective activation key or would you suggest to create a copy of the activation key with new software channels and reassign the servers? -- Gruss, Tobias Crefeld. xmpp (no email): crefeld@xabber.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: uyuni-users+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: uyuni-users+owner@opensuse.org
You can just switch the base and child channels... There is no need to reactivate with another activation key sent from my mobile device -------- Originale Nachricht -------- Von: Tobias Crefeld <tclx@klekih-petra.de> Gesendet: Sun Aug 02 21:20:27 GMT+02:00 2020 Cc: uyuni-users@opensuse.org Betreff: Re: [uyuni-users] Upgrading Clients to SLES 15 SP1 Am Sat, 01 Aug 2020 18:17:32 +0200 schrieb Robert Paschedag <robert.paschedag@web.de>:

Thus far I never tried to migrate a SLES client with Uyuni, but if channels are properly mirrored you can also do it with the web UI: . Navigate to the client's Details page. . Navigate to the Software > SP Migration subtab. . Select the Migration Target. Channel reassignments will happen behind the scenes. And yes, you are right, no reactivation with another activation key is needed. I hope I understand correctly what you want to accomplish. -- Karl Eichwalder -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: uyuni-users+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: uyuni-users+owner@opensuse.org

I wasn't aware that this feature exists, thanks for the hint! There is only one problem: It doesn't show all selected channels. Mostly it seems to be dependent on the system group the client is belonging to. 2 channels aren't shown at all. Actually for every host "SP Migration" shows a shorter list than a local "zypper lr". -- Regards, Tobias Crefeld. xmpp (no email): crefeld@xabber.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: uyuni-users+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: uyuni-users+owner@opensuse.org

How do I switch the base and child channels? I exchanged the channels in the activation key but that has no effect for the channel assignments of the clients - not in Uyuni and not at the clients itself. -- Gruss, Tobias Crefeld. xmpp (no email): crefeld@xabber.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: uyuni-users+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: uyuni-users+owner@opensuse.org
