That would give me a stock Linus-supplied kernel. The SuSE one is rather different (Reiserfs support amongst a whole load of rather useful other things). The 2.2.16 patches won't apply against the SuSE kernel sources. The question should have been: will SuSE supply a 2.2.16 version of their kernel, or do those who want to continue running the SuSE kernel have to put up with an insecurity? -- ---------------------------------------------------------- Derek Fountain | "Microsoft have performed an IBM Labs, Hursley, UK | illegal operation and will fountai at hursley.ibm.com | be shut down" ----------------------------------------------------------
ftp://ftp.kernel.org - get the 2.2.16 tarball or patch and apply it to your machine

I still can't figure out the SuSE policy on updating kernels for their distro. Is it policy to produce a new kernel for each update, or it that a carrot held in reserve to encourage people to upgrade to the next SuSE release?
I never saw a 2.2.15 for SuSE-6.x, but 2.2.16 is a security fix, and therefore a priority. Will a 2.2.16 be made available?

Get 2.4, it has all the goodies in, and works well here. Some would say "It Rox". Derek Fountain wrote:
