[opensuse] Upgrade Question i686 to x86_64
Hi All, Is there a means upgrade an existing Suse 10.0 i686 installation to a Suse 10.0 x86_64 without physical access to the hardware. My hosting company only installs 10.0 i686 on their dedicated servers and I would like to update the system to 64bit. Can this be done via yast? Is there a HOW-TO somewhere, to do it manually? I've Googled for hours and have not been able to find anything applicable. Many thanks! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

This update is not supported, I guess it's best to install from scratch - and for that you need at least some access to the hardware.

and there is probably a backup/restore function in case of hardware failure, and optimized drivers, so it's probably not a good idea to do so. and what is this company? the ones I know don't propose suse at all :-( jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No they have Fedora 64bit... same hardware. I think they just can't be bothered with all the different combinations. I'll keep pressing them! :-) The hosting company in question www.easypeedy.com...
