Hi everybody, This is my first time here and see how effective is. I just want to know how to use yast2 so that I could switch or change from operate system and both should still on or active. I have win and linux 7.3 on the same harddrive. I'm working at an internet caffe. If clients don't have idea about linux then I just want to get the win OS without re-start and put linux back when that client is gone.
Hi What I would do, is to install vmware (OS-emulator platform), and install Winxxxx to it. Then I could have Linux running all the time, and start Winblows in its own window, where one could see the difference. Probably have one computer equipped with Matrox G400 Dual-head display-card (or any dual-head), so that one could really compare the feel and see both OS side-by-side. This ofcourse does not apply to speed-comparison, because an OS is usually slower in emulator. Actually I have found, that disk-operations are sometimes faster under emulator, but screen-handling is much slower, so it is definetly not for gaming! Hope this helps. Jaska. Hi There is a free trial-period, so You can try it out for 30 days if I remember correctly. To buy the actual license is not too much for a internet-cafe.. I remember it was around 300 USD (http://www.vmware.com) Jaska. Viestissä Torstai 31 Tammikuu 2002 20:16, CT kirjoitti:

Nope. VMWare does provide a 30 day trial version. They charge a price in line with other SW emulator packages (like Win4Lin). It is not cheap, but if you do have a use for it, the cost is justifiable. I found that VMWare Express was generally cheaper than buying a single Windows license. Worked for me. C.

True enough (the speed thing), but I am using VMWare and Win98 for things like browsing a website that I just cannot get to work in Linux, and it works fine both as a windowed app and full screen. In fact if you switch it to full screen - and don't try to run a game (ie use it for things like the Internet cafe), you cannot really tell it it Windows running in an emulator. Speed is more than acceptable, but I am running it on an AMD Athalon 1Ghz processor with a load of RAM.. that seems to really help. C. -- This is Linux country.
