[opensuse] ldif and yast
Hi I have an ldif file to add a linux-only user to the ldap tree. I also have an ldif for a Linux and Samba user. By changing the ou in the ldif file I can place the user anywhere in the LDAP tree. Using Yast has the advantage that it looks after the uid of the new user automatically. It also has the disadvantage in that I cannot see a way of adding the user to an ou other than ou=people as I can using my ldif files. Using my ldif method has the disadvantage in that you have to use getent to find the next unused uid. Is there any sort of method which gives me the best of my ldif method and the Yast auto update? At the moment I have a Linux group for each ou. I'd be interested to know how others implement it. 11.4 server with a mix of Win 7 and Linux clients.
