Hi Quick question. How can I turn off the automatic kde graphics when SuSE 8 Boots up? Can I change the config before kde kicks in then reboot and I am left with the login text screen next time I boot up? Regards Matt

Start up YaST2 and click on System on the left and choose Runlevel editor on the right. When this pops up, select runlevel 3 and walk through it the rest of the way. If you want to get there w/o rebooting, log out of KDE after you've changed YaST, then go to a vty (cntl-alt-F1) login and type "init 3" -- Travis. What Travis told you (about using init 3) is totally correct, but you might also want to get rid of the stupid VESA-based graphical "green screen" that SuSE dumps you in when you are in "text mode." First set your computer to init 3 as Travis explained, then also do the following: 1) Edit /etc/lilo.conf and change the line that says "vga=771" to "vga=normal" 2) Run /sbin/lilo 3) Reboot You'll then be able log in at a true text screen. - Robert Storey On Wednesday 29 May 2002 01:24, Travis Owens wrote:
