I use SuSE 9.1 and upgraded to kernel-2.6.9. The only patch that I applied was a bootsplash patch. I was sick of : 1. Bootsplash patch not working properly 2. CD burning problem 3. other annoyances with kernel 2.6.8/2.6.8.1 The botsplash patch applied nicely and everything works great except the NVIDIA driver. I compile my own because I want a newer version than YaST offers. When I compile it, It has no precompiled interface - like 2.6.8 (When I first got it) , none on 'ftp.nvidia.com' - like 2.6.8 , but can't build its own properly - unlike 2.6.8. I get this error: ERROR: Unable to load the kernel module 'nvidia.ko'. This is most likely because the kernel module was built (I think some of it got cut off there, sorry) I built it in /usr/src/linux with 'make menuconfig', 'make', make modules_install', and 'make install' I am currently using the 'nv' driver for X. What is wrong?
