[opensuse] Using Thunderbird For 2 Email Accounts One Imap Server
I pull my email to my ISP email and another email account to the same Imap server, but in thunderbird, I'd like to use the imap to be able to send out via either my isp outgoing and local outgoing. For instance. I have email that goes to mikesd1@verizon.net , which I get my opensuse mail to. If I want to reply to that using my verizon email I can hit reply and select the verzion outgoing. However if I get email to my mikesd@mydomain.com, I want to be able to write an email and send that via my domain.com server. Thunderbird does not allow me to add multiple outgoing servers to one account, I don't think. But both emails are pulled via fetchmail and delivered via imap. Evolution has the ability to add different outoing servers, but evolution has filtering issues that are annoying me. -- Michael S. Actually, that doesn't work. See both set of emails come into the same identity because both emails come to the same imap server using the same login/pass -- Michael S. Dunsavage -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It works for me as it says: To add an additional SMTP server: * Go to account settings. * At the bottom of the left pane (you may need to scroll down), click on "Outgoing Server (SMTP)". * Click the "Add..." button. * Insert the SMTP server information that you want, and click the "OK" button. To use this newly added SMTP server for any other identity: * In account settings, in the left pane, click on the account name whose identities you want to change. * Press the Manage Identities... button. *I didn't have another identity so at this point I created one* * Select the identity that you want to change, and press the Edit... button. * Choose the SMTP server you want to use from the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" pulldown list. And apparently it works for Carlos, too :) Cheers, Dave -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Sending is done via smtp servers, not imap. You can configure as many smtp servers as you like in thunderbird. The trick is to associate an smtp server to each pop/imap account or identity. And it works. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
