[opensuse] Fwd: Regarding 32-bit AMD Radeon HD Drivers for openSUSE 12.2
Hi all. I have just installed the 32-bit version openSUSE 12.2. I am facing issues with installing the driver for Radeon HD card. I have a 6470m card. I tried two solutions, and both of them failed: 1) 1-click installer for fglrx 2) atiupdate Both of them resulted in loss of GUI. I am looking for a generic solution which would enable me to install the driver on all architectures. Awaiting reply, Regards, Gaurav -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

OpenSOURCE Radeon driver isn't sufficient? Loss of GUI in what respect? Blank screen? At what part of the booting process? Do you have any Xorg.*.logs to see why it failed? Possibly the drivers were not installed correctly? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I gave up with 12.1 and 12.2 on my laptop as all i got was the CLI login prompt, GUI crashed every time. Went back to 11.4. regards Ian -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
upon startup, i was forced onto the console view, with no way of getting back to any desktop environment. i even tried the script by sebastien seibert, which had worked for me in 12.1, but even that did not work. On Wed, Dec 26, 2012 at 3:37 AM, ianseeks <ianseeks@dsl.pipex.com> wrote:

Yes, same for me and thats why i gave up with 12.1 and 12.2 and went back to 11.4 My graphics card is quite old now so i guess that's where the issue is. I'll try 12.3 when it comes out but i doubt it will be any different

Make sure to try 12.3 while it is in factory, and report the issue in bugzilla, to increase your chances. - -- Cheers Carlos E. R.
