What is in that directory? Is it a directory with just RPMs in it or is it a real repository with a "repodata" directory or a "content" file?
Neither - it's an empty directory.
Plain directories with RPMs in it are currently not supported, but you can use the "createrepo" utility to make a real repository of them.
Ok, here's what I'm looking for. If you can point me to a FAQ that explains how to do this, that'd be great...
My connection isn't super fast and neither is my machine. Everytime I go into Yast online updates (or change install source) it takes forever to show me a list of pkgs or the next screen. It's just too painful to wait ~20 mins just for Yast to give me a list of packages *every* time I go into it.
What's going on? I haven't figured it out yet, but Yast seems to be creating /var/adm/mount/AP_0x00000001 directories during that 20 mins. But they are deleted/unmounted when I go back to online update, so those dir(s) have to be recreated everytime.
The /var/adm/mount dirs are eerily similar to the ones in /var/lib/zypp/cache/Source.A2QBo0/repodata. But I haven't figured out the correlation between the two. I've only had 10.1 installed for a few days.
What I was hoping to do was split the updating task: a) keep the metadata local so I can easily browse updates, etc. and b) when I *decide* to update a package, then Yast can fetch the RPMs over the network.
Part a) would be updated via cron at night thus keeping me informed.
That's where I had the "bright" idea to create a local repository and my initial question. Basically a mirror of inst-source but w/o the RPMS.
Is this idea way off base?
BTW, I don't have 'createrepo' on my system.
Thanks, Sam
