[SuSE Linux] installing xwindows via yast
I am trying to install a trial version of SuSE Linux 5.3 (magazin: PC Intern 11/98). When I am trying to configer xwindows via Yast. When xconfig86 starts my screen has green vertical bars. So I cannot go any further. I think there is something wrong with the communication between the monitor (Philips 15A brilliance) and the videocard (Matrox Millenium 4 mb). What must I do to get it right? I have looked on the SuSE-website for a solution but I couldn't find anything. -- Jos Fontaine, Aalsburg 2937, 6602 WK Wychen email: josfon@xs4all.nl telefoon: 024-6412159 - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

Lokk on SuSe's website under X-Server's. You probably need to upgrade to the latest version of XFree86.3.3.3. I had the same trouble with my card, just useless vertical lines. I got the XFree86.3.3.3 SVGA server, and the latest version of SAX, and it works. I did get a big square cursor, and no fonts in my xterms, but that was solved by adding the server options, no_bitblt, and sw_cursor. I have a SiS6326. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
