I believe that would only show there if they actually declared that they own the stock. Or, they have the ability to use another name, common practice.

Once you own over 5% you can no longer hide behind another name such as your brokerage or a shell company set up for that purpose. There would be no reason for IBM to throw 50 million publicly toward Novell in a move to assure continued access to Suse for their eServer products, and then to try to hide the fact that they own stock.
