[S.u.S.E. Linux] yast installing to a different directory
Hi all, Yast is determind to install Apllixware that came with my SuSE 5.2 in the root directory. I don't have enough room for it there. How can I make it install to a different partition? Make a directory named opt in the partion which you have enough space. Then, cd / ln -s /directoryname/opt /opt Assuming that Applixware is installed under /opt directory. Cengiz On Mon, 4 May 1998, Ramin Sina wrote:

Many commercial programs install in /opt by default. If you do not have an /opt partition, then I would: cd /usr mkdir opt cd / ln -s /usr/opt opt Now all programs that want /opt and don't give you a chance to change that at install will install to /usr/opt, where you shouldn't be hurting for disk space. YaST tries to copy Applixware to /opt/applix. To install it to a different directory you could create a symbolic link that points to /usr/local/applix (or somewhere else): mkdir /usr/local/applix ln -s /usr/local/applix /opt/applix Then install Applixware and it should go to /usr/local/applix.
