[opensuse] OpenOffice.org BS project obsolete by OpenOffice.org:STABLE and OpenOffice.org:UNSTABLE
Hello all, We have finally removed the older OpenOffice.org project in the Build Service. It has been obsoleted by the three new projects: OpenOffice.org:STABLE OpenOffice.org:UNSTABLE OpenOffice.org:EXTRAS OpenOffice.org:STABLE This project provides packages from the latest stable version of OpenOffice.org office suite. It is OOo-2.2.1 these days. OpenOffice.org:UNSTABLE This project should provide packages from the latest development build. It is currently built from the same sources as the 'OpenOffice_org' package in 'openSUSE:Factory'. OpenOffice.org:EXTRAS This project provides some extras for OpenOffice.org office suite, like dictionaries and templates. They should be usable with both the STABLE and the UNSTABLE OOo packages. I am looking for co-maintainers that could help me to keep the stuff up to date, improve it... ---------- The packages are currently available for the following products and architectures: SLED10-i386 10.0-i386 10.1-i386 10.2-i386 10.1-x86_64 10.2-x86_64 The installation repositories can be found at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/UNSTABLE/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/EXTRAS/ FAQ: Q: Where can I ask questions regarding OOo? A: I am sorry, even if I find more time for you, I can't answer everything. I would sort the questions into the following categories: + general questions about OOo (about a functionality) should be best answered by the OOo community on users@openoffice.org + bugs should be reported into bugzilla, see below + other questions about our plans, Novell features, ... should be send to this list. Please mention "OpenOffice.org or OOo somewhere in the Subject. I promise, I'll take more care of this list and answer OOo-related questions at least once or twice a week. If I don't, feel free to CC me ;-) Q: How to report bugs? A: Please, report bugs at https://bugzilla.novell.com for the product "OpenOffice.org 2.0". Please, do not forget to mention: + that the package is from the Build Service + system you are running, e.g. "openSUSE-10.2-x86_64" + desktop you are using, e.g. KDE, GNOME + OOo version from the last line of the dialog "Help/About OpenOffice.org", e.g. "Build 2.2.0.1" + that you are running 32-bit OOo on x86_64 system if this is the case + steps to reproduce + other useful details (e.g. screenshots, backtrace, strace) It will help us a lot and it will increase the chance that the bug will be fixed. -- Best Regards, Petr Mladek software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: pmladek@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 952 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Does the above mean that it is preferred to report OOo bugs to Novell rather than to OpenOffice.org Bugzilla in cases where one is running OOo from openSUSE repositories listed above? Tero Pesonen

If the bug is present in the OO.o builds it should go there. If its specific to these builds, use bugzilla.novell.com. If you're not sure, do a best guess and it will get sorted out. -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

'Co-maintainer to keep the stuff up to date'? Can you say it more clearly? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Can you say it more clearly?
It was related especially for the dictionaries, templates, and clipart stuff. Dictionaries: ------------- I take the dictionaries from the upstream ftp: ftp://ftp.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/contrib/dictionaries/ I think that there might exists newer version of the dictionaries somewhere that are not upload to the ftp. It is more complicated to search all the different dictionaries home pages. In addition, they are sometimes only in the native language, so hard to read for me... Another problem is that there sometimes exist more variants of the dictionary, for example http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries#French_.28France.2C_..... http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries#Russian_.28Russia.29 I am not sure what is the best or if we need to package them all... I would really appreciate help or feedback from the native speekers. Templates: ---------- There are many templates all around the word. KamiHír does a great job a tries to collect them, see http://sourceforge.net/projects/ooop http://ooop.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ooop/trunk/extras/source/premium/ I did not have time to update the openSUSE packages for 10.3. It did not want to take the KamiHír templates as they were. I wanted to select only a good quality and free templates. KamiHír would welcome any help as well ;-) Clipart: -------- We currently provide extra gallery for OOo based on openclipart, see http://www.openclipart.org/ and http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/sus... http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/sus... This packages currently are not in the Build Service. I'll add them soon. I am sure that there are more projects with free clipart. It would be nice to create more galleries... AFAIK, KamiHír has already done some work for the OxygenOffice as well. -- Best Regards, Petr Mladek software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: pmladek@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 952 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
