Hi, Did I miss something in 9.2 ? I have nfs-utils, it should give to me server and client. Following 5 daemons should be part of nfs-utils: rcp.prtmap rcp.mountd rcp.nfsd rcp.statd rcp.lockd well, red:/home/jx # ls -a /2//usr/sbin/rpc* /2//usr/sbin/rpcinfo /2//usr/sbin/rpc.nfsd /2//usr/sbin/rpc.yppasswdd /2//usr/sbin/rpc.mountd /2//usr/sbin/rpc.rquotad /2//usr/sbin/rpc.ypxfrd red:/home/jx # ls -a /2/sbin/rpc* /2/sbin/rpc.lockd red:/home/jx # looks like rcp.portmap is missing I didn't have any problem with nfs server in 9.0 but, in 9.2 I don.t have nfs server in YaST's networking services and I can't run it manually. Any suggestion really appreciate. Jul

Open YaST-->Add/Remove software and search for portmap. Also click on the "provides" check box for a more extensive search. You can also use pin to search for portmap to find which package provides it. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge

Shouldn't be resolve in dependency check should it? I summary could someone guide me in nfs server invoking in 9.2. It was very intuitive and consistent with HOWTO NFS in 9.0. i'm running to the problems in 9.2. Jul.

portmap is a separate package. It can be used for more than just nfs. Install and start with "rcportmap start"
I generally like to have my nfs server run as a daemon. Have you tried to go to Yast2 runlevel and tried enabling nfsserver. I am also curious if your NFS server will lockup if you try to munt it. Mine did. I had to go to the user space ersion of nfs for it to work. I have the problem in 9.3 still yet. There seems to be a problem with the kernel base version/ Jul wrote:

Thanks, it is true kernel base is giving me error , Well, in 9.0 is just fine. In 9.2. user space is running now but, i do not have nfs server setups in yast -> network services. So, rpcinfo -p is giving me OK and now is time to setup /etc/exports, ... . Jul.

I do not have nfs server in YaST->network services 2. rpcinfo -p respod OK 3. /etc/exports is updated 4. exportfs -ra -> exportfs is not existing command in 9.2 Q: What is a next step ? Jul
You will need to start the user base in the run level. when you do, te /usr/sbin/rpc.nfsd should show up as one of your process. If that is up and running do a shoumount -e your_hostname. This should list your exported file system. Try to mount it from another system to see if ti works. Jul wrote:
