now three installs later new errors. First install Leap 15.2 worked for a year then suddenly ethernet stopped working. File systems ext4. Some creative workarounds fixed it temporarily then failed. So second install fixed that used btrfs for root and xfs for home then suddenly / became read only so with Knoppix I got my files and settings off. through all this one strange persistant error indicator: platform mgs10101:00 failed to claim resource 1: mcm oxfed 40000 Even when working correctly this last error persisted. now i will try again with new partitions Is all this a general error of Leap or is it ACER specific? ____________________________________________________________ Sponsored by https://www.newser.com/?utm_source=part&utm_medium=uol&utm_campaign=rss_taglines_more 'He Was the DB Cooper of Nebraska' http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3131/6031ce5ee41734e5e20c8st03duc1 Abbott Calls Biden's Move 'Partial Approval' http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3131/6031ce5f142cc4e5e20c8st03duc2 Metal Panel Found in 1991 Could Hold Earhart Clues http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3131/6031ce5f3783e4e5e20c8st03duc3

I'm not sure how much your E5-575 differs from my E5-571, but all i can say is that my E5-571 has been the best linux latop experience I've had in years - all the way to using the NVidia card with render offloading. does your laptop still work enough so you can post the output of "inxi -F"? Hm. definitely different from mine, what year is yours? mine's 8 years old or so by now... anyway I think at least the hard drive and network card issues might warrant actually talking to acer - sounds like there's actually something broken. btw here's mine: kirika:~ # inxi -F System: Host: kirika Kernel: 5.3.18-lp152.63-default x86_64 bits: 64 Console: tty 0 Distro: openSUSE Leap 15.2 Machine: Type: Laptop System: Acer product: NC-E5-571G-53GC v: V1.32 serial: NXMM0EG0014180FA073400 Mobo: Acer model: EA50_HB v: V1.32 serial: Type2BoardSerialNumber UEFI: Insyde v: 1.32 date: 09/15/2015 Battery: ID-1: BAT1 charge: 53.5 Wh condition: 53.5/55.9 Wh (96%) CPU: Topology: Dual Core model: Intel Core i5-4210U bits: 64 type: MT MCP L2 cache: 3072 KiB Speed: 2394 MHz min/max: 800/2700 MHz Core speeds (MHz): 1: 2394 2: 2393 3: 2394 4: 2406 Graphics: Device-1: Intel Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics driver: i915 v: kernel Device-2: NVIDIA GM108M [GeForce 840M] driver: nvidia v: 460.39 Device-3: Chicony type: USB driver: uvcvideo Display: server: Moba/X 1.20.3 driver: modesetting, nvidia resolution: 3840x1080 OpenGL: renderer: GeForce GTX 1050/PCIe/SSE2 v: 1.4 (4.6.0 NVIDIA 461.40) Audio: Device-1: Intel Haswell-ULT HD Audio driver: snd_hda_intel Device-2: Intel 8 Series HD Audio driver: snd_hda_intel Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.3.18-lp152.63-default Network: Device-1: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet driver: r8169 IF: eth0 state: down mac: f0:76:1c:cf:08:99 Device-2: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter driver: ath9k IF: wlan0 state: up mac: b8:ee:65:47:1c:b0 Device-3: Lite-On Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth type: USB driver: btusb IF-ID-1: br-ac098ea024a8 state: down mac: 02:42:6b:46:2c:d0 IF-ID-2: docker0 state: down mac: 02:42:f5:7d:dd:61 Drives: Local Storage: total: 931.51 GiB used: 176.31 GiB (18.9%) ID-1: /dev/sda vendor: Samsung model: SSD 850 EVO 1TB size: 931.51 GiB Partition: ID-1: / size: 62.87 GiB used: 35.39 GiB (56.3%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/dm-0 ID-2: /boot size: 239.9 MiB used: 54.6 MiB (22.8%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/sda6 ID-3: /home size: 157.36 GiB used: 93.34 GiB (59.3%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/dm-2 Swap: ID-1: swap-1 type: partition size: 16.00 GiB used: 0 KiB (0.0%) dev: /dev/dm-3 Sensors: System Temperatures: cpu: 46.0 C mobo: N/A Fan Speeds (RPM): N/A Info: Processes: 191 Uptime: N/A Memory: 15.55 GiB used: 847.3 MiB (5.3%) Shell: bash inxi: 3.1.00 kirika:~ # Am 22.02.2021 um 03:37 schrieb Carl Spitzer {L Juno}:
