[opensuse] Help with keyboard and mouse
Hi All I have a strange problem and I'm hoping that someone else has experienced this or knows what's going on and how to resolve it. At the kdm login the mouse is immobile or invisible and the keyboard seems unresponsive. However, if I type in my password and then change to a console screen and then back, the password is entered. The login progresses a bit and then seems to pause. By switching to a console screen and then back again the login continues to completion. That is what happens. I make key presses and or mouse movements when I switch to a console screen and then back the key press or mouse movement is executed. If I switch to a console, the keyboard works fine. It started happening with opensuse 11.4 so I decided to upgrade to 12.1 thinking that it would resolve itself but it still continues. In fact, I could only complete the installation by switching to and from console screens. I did the installation as a new install and not an upgrade. Any thoughts, anyone? Would be grateful for any help. Thanks in advance. Eddie -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

What sort of mouse and keyboard? Wireless or not? If wireless is the receptor unit under and behind the monitor -and if so then move it to be in front of the monitor as the monitor suppresses the signal. I started out with a wireless keyboard and mouse and then switched to a wired (usb) one. The results were the same. I have no problems when using a console screen (although I can't really test the mouse but the keyboard responds well). Nevertheless I'll switch the monitor and change its location and see what happens. Three things: have you reset your BIOS to now recognise non-wireless keyboard/mouse?; and you do remember that if you have 2 USB devices on the same USB port then only will work if the other device is being used?' and, are the USB devices all same as in USB 2 or USB 3 or even USB 1? Much Thanks Basil, I don't understand it but swapping monitors etc. seems to have done the trick everything is working as it should. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
