Do you perhaps print rotated characters (e.g. print in "landscape")? Only a guess: Because your printed output looks similar to https://bugzillafiles.novell.org/attachment.cgi?id=431530 your issue might be related to https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=692356 "FreeType2 fails in Ghostscript: rotated characters wrong scaled" For a summary see in particular https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=692356#c19 If you use the Gutenprint driver see in particular https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=692356#c17 for a workaround how to disable FreeType in Ghostscript and revert to the traditional font scaler/renderer in Ghostscript. It was indeed in landscape. I should have mentioned this.
Because your printed output looks similar to https://bugzillafiles.novell.org/attachment.cgi?id=431530 your issue might be related to https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=692356 "FreeType2 fails in Ghostscript: rotated characters wrong scaled"

If you use the Gutenprint driver see in particular https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=692356#c17 for a workaround how to disable FreeType in Ghostscript and revert to the traditional font scaler/renderer in Ghostscript.
followed directions in #c17, added option "dDisableFAPI=true" and now oocalc will not print :^( at all but I *can* print, lp <file> and 127.0.0.1:631 shows the active print job, lp <file>, but no job for oocalc. lpq reports: epson925 is ready no entries thanks for your help, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You mean that only from oocalc it does not work but e.g. via lp /usr/share/YaST2/data/testprint.ps you can print a testpage. To debug what fails when printing from oocalc see the section "Get CUPS debug messages if it does not work" in http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:CUPS_in_a_Nutshell Perhaps the CUPS debug messages show something of interest. yes, testprint.ps prints properly
To debug what fails when printing from oocalc see the section "Get CUPS debug messages if it does not work" in http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:CUPS_in_a_Nutshell
