[opensuse] disable hibernation--followup
Apparently google doesn't allow attachments with a .com extension. And rebooting Windows without shutting off does NOT work in a version I got with a new computer last May or June. Anyway, it's easy enough to just write the words here: Right-click the START button and choose Windows Powershell (admin): you see a prompt like this: PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> to that, add a command, as shown: PS C: \WINDOWS\system32> powercfg.exe /h off That's all there is to it. It's now permanently off. If you want to turn it back on again, substitute the word on after the /h. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Good. Nor do I - actually, I also look inside the attachment, and no matter the extension, any executable is quarantined.

accidentally renamed file as .com. should have been a .doc file. And I misspelled the name, anyway! Sorry to have goofed up! --doug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I don't know how to find the exact Windows version. I very seldom open a Windows OS. To explain, over the last several months I have looked up supposed methods of stopping the hibernation and none of them worked. Most required that a certain "apply" icon be selected, but it was always grayed out. I got the impression that MS REALLY does not want anyone to be able to change this function. --doug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

There should be an option or button to enable disabled options. Like an expert mode button. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
