Hi, I already post another message with same question in this list. I'm going to try with another title :-) I have a permanent ADSL connection. Sometimes it falls. Using rcppoed to start ADSL connection, what can I do to "redial" when the connection is broken??? I am not speaking of dial-up redial (when a client requests something from outside network). I need to be always online even when I do no request to internet... I am suposed to receive some request from internet. In other words I need redial just after the connection is broken. Seems to be simple as adding a parameter in pppoed.conf, but could't find the way. Thanks guys,

DEMAND=no Try that. I'm using Roaring penguin but I think the options should be the same. Nick

Like that and by using START_PPPOED="yes" in /etc/rc.config I get initial connection when my host starts-up. So far works great. When my connection is broken (my provider loves to break connections every 24H :-) it does not reconnect.

All I can suggest is to try the roaring penguin package. It's on the CDs someplace or you could get the latest package from the Roaring penguin FTP site. It might work better with your provider. Nick
You could use /etc/inittab like this: My setup uses pptp, but I think you'll get the idea. Add these lines to your /etc/inittab # ADSL a1:2345:respawn:/usr/sbin/pptp 10.0.0.138 file /etc/ppp/options.adsl Nash On Wednesday 17 October 2001 16:43, you wrote:

Add these lines to your /etc/inittab
# ADSL a1:2345:respawn:/usr/sbin/pptp 10.0.0.138 file /etc/ppp/options.adsl
I start ADSL rcppoed at boot by just placing START_PPPOED="yes" in /etc/rc.config. The problem is to restart it again whenever the connection breaks.
Hi, OK, find out what script is called. propably something in /etc/init.d. There is always a link to this script: rc<scriptname>. Just use this linkname after the last colon: a1:2345:respawn:<your-link-name> Nash On Wednesday 17 October 2001 17:01, you wrote:
